Bio

I am a fungal cell biologist with expertise in fluorescence microscopy. I currently work as a postdoctoral scientist with Prof. Nick Talbot.

My research focuses in defining the molecular basis of septins recruitment, organisation and function within the appressorium and cell-to-cell movement of the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae during plant infection. In my project, I combine the use of live-cell imaging with molecular biology and proteomics approaches.

In my Master and PhD I studied the role of endocytosis in the morphogenesis of Neurospora crassa, and I assessed the role of the actin cytoskeleton and endocytosis during hyphal regeneration following mechanical injury in N. crassa and Trichoderma atroviride.
