Join a lively community in a well-resourced, cutting-edge research institution offering the best possible support that includes bespoke training.
Students register for a PhD (or very occasionally an MPhil for two years or an MSc by Research for one year) at the nearby University of East Anglia (UEA).
Most opportunities become available in the autumn with a deadline in November for entry in October of the following year. Additional opportunities can arise throughout the year.
Our project and rotation-based studentships include
- Norwich Research Park Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership Studentships funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
- John Innes Foundation Rotation PhD Programme in Plant and Microbial Sciences at The Sainsbury Laboratory and the John Innes Centre
- and other internally or externally funded studentships
All current project and rotation-based opportunities are shown below. If nothing is listed at this time, please check this page again soon.
In addition to these institute-led studentships, TSL has an open call for applications from highly motivated individuals interested in doing a postgraduate research degree at any time. If you have a great research idea for an applicant-led postgraduate PhD, MPhil or MSc by research degree, please email one of our Group Leaders directly. Not only do we welcome applicants who have secured their own funding but TSL also has the scope to fund the very best ideas.
If you have yet to gain the necessary skills and experience required to undertake a PhD, TSL also offers Predoctoral Internships to help develop those with the greatest research promise.
Alternatively, you may wish to consider our one-year taught MSc in Global Plant Health.
