Bio

I am interested in flower design as a novel research area at the intersection between synthetic plant biology, bioengineering, art, and design. I work in the development of Openflower, an initiative that presents plant biotechnology as an accessible platform that reaches public impact through art and education.

Current research aims to the transient and stable transformation of ornamental plants for the integration of new traits including pigment pathways and other secondary metabolites relevant for flower design. I also work on the design of platforms that would allow these ornamental plants to be experienced by various audiences from a place of joy and hands-on curiosity.
