Bio
I am a PhD student working in Professor Nick Talbot’s lab.
My research aims to explore the signalling involved in the development of a specialised infection structure called the appressorium, which generates an enormous turgor pressure allowing the rice blast fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae to infect a host plant.
Specifically, I am characterising the signalling pathway downstream of the turgor-sensing histidine-aspartate kinase Sln1 during appressorium development, using a combination of genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and transcriptomics.
