Bio

My research focuses on the chemical biology of natural products, specifically aiming at identifying secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activity produced by endophytic fungi isolated from Casearia arborea and Casearia sylvestris.

I am particularly interested in integrating complex fungal genomics and metabolomics tools to explore the biosynthetic potential of these organisms. My work utilizes strategies such as OSMAC (One Strain Many Compounds) and co-cultivation to stimulate the expression of silent biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) and enhance chemical diversity.

By applying techniques like LC-HRMS dereplication, molecular networking via GNPS, and genome mining, I seek to discover novel bioactive compounds that can address the challenge of multidrug-resistant bacteria.
