Bio
Translating our fundamental research into applications that directly help people is a top priority of TSL Ventures.
As such, I am hosted by Prof. Saskia Hogenhout’s group at the John Innes Centre to help advance the development of a novel targeted protein degradation technology with the EffectorMed team.
This work follows up on the groundbreaking finding that a protein from a plant pathogen, called SAP05, degrades plant transcription factors by recruiting them to the proteasome for subsequent degradation in a ubiquitin-independent manner.
Our goal is to adapt this evolutionary innovation for the purpose of degrading proteins involved in cancer using protein structural prediction, biochemistry, and the generation of de novo peptides to aid our efforts in engineering SAP05.
