Bio

I am curious about the molecular underpinnings of host-pathogen interactions in agronomically important crops vital to food security.

My previous research experience on working with root-knot nematodes motivated me in furthering my understanding about the biology of plant pathogenic effectors and their complex relationship with plant immune system components. I am interested to explore the application of resistance genes in development of varieties having resistance against broad range of important plant pathogens.

Restructuring of policies on the application of transgenic and gene-edited cultivars of vital crops are the need of the hour in decision makings of world governments, I am fascinated about the role of leading plant scientists in influencing the policies on sustainable agriculture that ensures food security.
