My research focuses on how plants detect pathogen invasion through intracellular immune receptors.
Using biochemical and structural approaches, I investigate how NLR proteins recognize their cognate pathogen effectors to inform the engineering of novel disease resistance.
I elucidated the structural basis of broad-spectrum recognition by an Arabidopsis NLR of ferredoxin-like effectors and am currently working together with my colleague Shuting Sun to study how the potato NLR RIadg recognizes multiple P1 proteases from diverse Poleroviruses.
