Bio
I am interested in using computational approaches to rapidly mine for genes that confer resistance to the devasting Asian Soybean Rust (ASR) pathogen. I work as part of a larger team that aims to introduce robust genetic resistance to ASR in cultivated soybean. During my PhD, I worked on the application and development of tools that allow for rapid mining and characterisation of genes that confer resistance to the devastating wheat rust pathogen. These approaches included both wet lab and glasshouse work in addition to bioinformatics.
