Bio
I am interested in the evolution and population genetics of plant pathogenic bacteria. Specifically, I am interested in understanding how bacteria adapt to cause disease and characterising the mechanisms they use to manipulate plant physiology to overcome host defences. My PhD and subsequent postdoc (at NIAB-EMR/University of Reading) focused on using comparative genomics to investigate the genetic basis of host specificity of Pseudomonas syringae on Prunus species. At TSL, I will explore the role of Nudix-domain effectors in bacteria-plant interactions.
