Hi, my name is Sung. My postdoctoral work (2013 – present) in the group of Prof. Jonathan Jones at The Sainsbury Laboratory is specifically focused on the investigation of large complexes of RPS4/RRS1, effector protein and other host proteins.

Research theme:  To understand the RPS4/RRS1 complex

Background: The Arabidopsis TIR-NB-LRR receptor RPS4 cooperates genetically with the WRKY domain containing TIR-NB-LRR immune receptor RRS1. Both RPS4 and RRS1 is required for AvrRps4/PopP2-triggered resistance towards Pseudomonas/Ralstonia infection. Interestingly, this phenotype relies on EDS1, as key TIR-NB-LRR regulator.

My research point:

1. Identification and verification of the RPS4/RRS1 complex in N. benthamiana and Arabidopsis

2. Biochemical properties and components of the RPS4/RRS1 complex

3. Identification of other proteins associated with the RPS4/RRS1 complex

4. Investigate unknown functions of EDS1 in this complex

These will enable us to define the function and composition of the RPS4/RRS1 complex.
