Dr Martin Stegmann

DFG Postdoctoral Fellow
Cyril Zipfel Group

I studied Biology at the University of Wuerzburg (Germany), where I started my PhD in the group of Dr Marco Trujillo. I continued my research at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Halle (Germany). My focus was the analysis of target proteins of the E3-ubiquitin ligase PUB22 involved in PAMP-triggered immunity.

In April 2013 I joined the Zipfel lab to work on the characterization of modifier of bak1-5 (mob) mutants. These mutants resulted from an EMS mutagenesis screen in the bak1-5 mutant background and were isolated based on a regained PAMP-triggered ROS response.

I am currently focussing on different candidate genes to analyse their function in the regulation of PTI responses, funded by a fellowship for postdoctoral researchers from the German Research Council (DFG).
