Our group focus on the paired Arabidopsis TIR-NB-LRR immune receptor RRS1 and RPS4. RRS1 and RPS4 are both required to confer recognition of two distinct bacterial effectors, AvrRps4 and PopP2. We study how the NLR pair activate defence upon effector recognition in a view to elucidating the defence mechanism and engineering receptors with novel recognition specificities. I am currently interested in dissecting intra and intermolecular interactions of RRS1 to RPS4 upon perceiving effectors.
