Miss Jessica Upson
I gained an interest in plant cell biology during my BSc degree, where I had the opportunity to look at the regulation of the endomembrane and secretory pathways. Following from this, I would now like to understand how these complex systems are involved during plant-microbe interactions in an attempt to block the association with pathogens.
During my PhD I will look at the microbe-induced secretome, with the aim of understanding how these secreted compounds terminate pathogenesis. I am interested in investigating the regulation of protein secretion with the hope of discerning the cellular execution of the plant defence response.
