Dr Hari Karki

Postdoctoral Scientist
Jonathan Jones Group

I am interested in engineering durable disease resistance in crops to feed a growing population.

During my PhD at Louisiana State University, I worked on functional genomics of the rice pathogenic bacteria, Burkholderia glumae and rice breeding for disease resistance. Then, I joined Purdue University as a Post-doctoral researcher and worked on understanding the genetic and biochemical interactions of maize-western corn rootworm beetle.

Here at TSL, I am working on the recently developed Renseq (Resistance gene enrichment sequencing) method to clone functional resistance genes against potato late blight in wild Solanum species.
