My main research interest is in plant immunity and my goal is to translate scientific knowledge to improve crop disease resistance. In the Sainsbury Laboratory, I have explored the immune responses triggered by the recognition of extracellular microbial elicitors, but also the defense layer triggered by the recognition of cytoplasmic effectors.

Since 2016, I have joined the 2Blades Group to lead a team of researchers that tackle Corn Stalk and Ear Rots which are economically important diseases of corn (see TSL Press release and 2Blades Corn Stalk and Ear Rots project). In collaboration with Monsanto, our objective is to discover broad-spectrum and durable sources of genetic resistance against these devastating corn diseases.
