I’m interested in studying the homeostasis of the Oligogalacturonides (OGs, which are a class of plant Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns derived from the degradation of the homogalucturonan, a pectic component of the plant cell wall) both in Immunity and Development in Arabidopsis thaliana.

I just started my second year of phD school in cell and developmental biology at Sapienza, University of Rome; recently, my group discovered some novel enzymes which appear to be involved in the specific oxidation of OGs that, once oxidized, loose their biological activity.

I joined the Jonathan Jones group in order to generate (by using Genome Editing methods in Arabidopsis thaliana) single and multiple ko mutants, which hopefully will be important tools in understanding the role of these enzymes in plant immunity and development.
