Clara Rodriguez-Herrero

PhD Student
Nick Talbot Group

I am a PhD student in Prof. Nick Talbot’s group funded by the Palmer-Lawrence PhD Scholarship. I am originally from Barcelona, where I graduated in chemistry at IQS (Ramon Llull University). During my bachelor’s degree, I gained work experience through summer internships, one of them with Dr Magdalena Martin-Urdiroz in Nick Talbot’s lab. I became inspired by the work being carried out with Magnaporthe oryzae and rice. For this reason, I decided to conduct my final year project in understanding the role of BAR-domain proteins during the infection process of M. oryzae.

My PhD primarily aims to define the molecular mechanisms that determine M. oryzae effector translocation and delivery into rice host cells.
