Post Doctoral position in cellular dynamics in plant immunity
A first line of active plant immunity is triggered by so-called pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). The bacterial PAMP flagellin is recognized by the receptor kinase FLS2, which is localized to the plasma membrane and is targeted for endocytosis (Robatzek et al, 2006). To elucidate the role of membrane trafficking in plant immunity we have isolated novel components localizing to FLS2 membrane compartments. One objective of this project is to mechanistically characterize these components, and to determine their function in endocytosis and PAMP-triggered immunity.

The group of Silke Robatzek, currently located at the Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich, and is looking for a post doctoral fellow starting in 2010. The post doc is expected to have a strong background in modern laboratory biology. Experience in genetics and plant cell biology is a benefit. Salary will be within the UEA Research & Analogous staff Grade 7, at between £29,853 and £35,646 per annum and the appointment level will reflect the qualifications, skills, knowledge and achievements of the successful candidate.
