Postdoctoral position in the molecular mechanisms of exocytic trafficking in immunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Laboratory of Dr. Matthew Moscou at the Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) to study the role of the exocyst complex in immunity within the grasses.
The Moscou group focuses on understanding immunity in grass species. Areas of research include the evolution of immune receptors, nonhost resistance, multiple pathogen recognition, and trans-immune suppression in polyploids. We seek an individual with outstanding talent and abilities in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or genetics. The appointee will use multidisciplinary approaches including bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, evolutionary biology, genome editing, and pathology and will take advantage of substantial genetic and bioinformatic resources available in the Lab. In addition, the appointee will contribute to other research projects in the group based on their expertise. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of achievement, and an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary, international team. The successful candidate has excellent writing skills and a talent for communication.
The Sainsbury Laboratory is a world-class centre for plant/microbe interactions with a compelling record in training and mentorship of early career scientists. The candidate will join a highly-integrated interdisciplinary team of scientists with strong expertise in plant-pathogen interactions, molecular analyses, and bioinformatics. The post-holder will have opportunities to develop their technical and transferable skills during the duration of the appointment through training programmes, coaching, and mentoring. The candidate will be educated to PhD level or working towards completing a PhD.
Salary will be within the UEA Research and Analogous Staff Grade 7 scale at between £32,548 and £38,833 pa; the appointment level will reflect qualifications, skills, knowledge and achievements. The position is offered for one year renewable to up to 3 years.
