Postdoctoral position on mechanisms of defense activation following effector recognition by the RPS4/RRS1 paired NLR proteins

A three-year ERC-funded position is available to use protein chemistry methods to investigate protein-protein and domain-domain interactions involved in the mechanisms by which the RPS4 and RRS1 paired NLR proteins activate defense upon perception of bacterial effectors PopP2 or AvrRps4.

The successful candidate will have excellent protein chemistry and molecular biology skills and an interest in plant disease resistance. Candidates should also have an interest in deploying and optimizing preparation of proteins and protein complexes for analysis by proteomics and structural biology methods such as cryoEM. Salary will be within the UEA Research and Analogous Staff Grade 1A scale at between £32,004 and £38,183 pa; the appointment level will reflect qualifications, skills, knowledge and achievements. The position is available from 1 October 2017 for 3 years and is funded by the ERC grant “Immunity by Pair Design”.
